10 teams participated in this year’s Findlay/Wiser Cup team tournament in Deep River, 2007 April 14. Each team has four men and two ladies forming three mens doubles, one ladies doubles and two mixed doubles, playing a total of six matches in each round of competition with another team.
4 teams - Deep River 1, Petawawa 1, Pembroke 1 and Renfrew 1 participated in the Findlay Cup (A-section) round. A round-robin match format using the best of three 21-rally point games was adopted. Petawawa 1 won the Findlay Cup with 17 out of a possible 18 points. It was a close finish for second place with Deep River 1 just edging out Pembroke 1, 8 points to 7. It was a close contest between the two teams when half of the six matches was won in close three-game matches, with Deep River having the better luck of winning all three. It would have gone either way.
6 teams - Deep River 2, Petawawa 2, Pembroke 2, Renfrew 2, Arnprior and Beckwith played in the Wiser Cup (B-section) round. Deep River 2 won the Wiser Cup rather handily, with Petawawa 2 finishing second place.
Prizes were awarded to first and second place teams of both A and B-sections, and a third place finish to Arnprior in B. Draw prizes, supplied by Black Knight of Canada were given out throughout the competition; everyone had a good time watching or playing. The Deep River Badminton Club would like to thank many people who helped in running the tournament, particularly the following: Binh Ly, Rose-Marie Dolinar, Anne Gin, Ben Brown, Pui Wai Yuen, Mike Watt, Bill Richmond and Yanpeng Wang. Three local teenagers, Mike Sullivan, Winnie Li and Jessica Brabant, also contributed, and they all received great-looking pink T-shirts as gifts, courtesy of Kathy Lamb of Black Knight.

Wiser Cup
Winner: Deep River 2 – Lisa Shi, Esther Son, George Zhou, Bowei Han, James Richmond and Dan Leblanc.
Second Place: Petawawa 2 – Andrea St. John, Isabelle Dubois-Couillard, Mike Watt, Wade Beauregard, Nick Speranzini and Cain Petterson.
Third Place: Arnprior – Anne Kerr, Jeannette Kramer, John Fincham, Bill Luhta, Jason Behm and Keith Oattes.
