Three players from our district participated in the Junior High Performance tournament that took place at Mandarin Badminton Club during the week-end of Jan 9-11. Austin Flannigan, Manuel Asistores and Samy Coulombe participated in the U14 singles and doubles events.
In singles, Austin won his first two matches, one being against seed #2, and lost a very close quarter final match (3 games) to Nathan PY Chen (seed 5/8) from Lee's Badminton who went on to win silver. After his first win, Samy had lost his second match to the same player, again in a very close 3 games match. Manuel won his first match but lost his second to seed 5/8 Ben Wheeler, 22-20 in their third game..
In doubles, Austin and Samy won their first two matches however lost their quarter final match in two very close games to the team who went on to win gold. Manuel teamed up with James Sun from another district and lost his second match to the same team.
