Urgent: Volunteer coaches needed for Secondary School Badminton Teams
To all badminton players in Ottawa
Currently High schools in Ottawa are in need of badminton coaches to coach high school teams so that high school badminton teams can officially register for high school tournament. The deadline for register a high school team is Feb 1st and all requirements listed below need to be completed prior to registration. Badminton players in those schools will appreciate greatly for all volunteers who will be sacrifice their time and efforts to coach a high school badminton team. The school personnel to whom I enquired about the requirements was the school principal of my son school. Currently Nepean High school and West Carleton secondary School are asking for volunteer badminton coaches. There are many more high schools that I have no knowledge of may need volunteer coaches as well.
Requirements:
- The deadline to register a Badminton team is February 1.
- Meeting between school officer and volunteers prior to registering a team to answer questions and to ensure that all games and practices will have one of the volunteers present at all times.
- All volunteers who are listed to teams must complete a Police Reference Check for Vulnerable Sector. Volunteers must have this document prior to formation of the practice schedule. The fastest way to get this done is to visit the Elgin Street police station, as they can complete the check in one day -- otherwise it takes weeks. To get a reduced price for police check you will need a letter from school (with letter head) mentioning that you will volunteer to coach for badminton team
- Complete the Volunteer Interview form (Volunteer Interview Form) and return as soon as possible to school principal
- Volunteer will be interviewed by school officer who will be responsible for screening volunteers for school, and who will complete several elements of screening.
- Attend a training session for volunteers on January 31 at Confederation Education Centre (1645 Woodroffe Avenue) during the evening
- Prefer NCCP level 1 coaching. However this is not a must condition if you showed coaching experience.
With thanks for your commitment to Ottawa badminton Community,
