Salute to Olga Grabroussenok on her NCCP Level 3 Coach Certification

The ODBA would like to congratulate Ms Olga Gabroussenok on her recent achievement in being certified as an NCCP Level 3 Provincial Coach.

To achieve L3 certification is by no means trivial. The candidate has to complete theoretical, technical and practical requirements that are significantly more challenging than those for L2. While there are in-class courses and on-court practical under the supervision of a L4 instructor, what distinguishes L3 from L2 certification is the depth of the program involving exams as well as successful execution of an implementation plan to mentor a top competitive player. The L3 certification program is designed for the candidate to demonstrate the following attributes.

  - Passion about the sport and desire for excellence
  - Sound application and analysis of technical skills and strategies
  - Commitment, dedication and professionalism
  - Leadership and mentorship
  - Organization and planning
Although many started the L3 certification program, very few have actually completed all requirements.

Despite her busy schedule as a 4th year student at Ottawa U, Olga has demonstrated all the qualifications required of L3 certification. She is currently on the ODBA board as Director of Leadership Development, a former OWG member ('04) and 2 times OWG team manager (2006/08). She has been coaching for SBA, mentoring athletes, organizing & directing selected ODBA tournaments. She has become a role model and aspiration for many young players/coaches.

Despite Olga's relatively young age, the certification has allowed her to join the elite coaching personalities at L3 such as Dave Waddell, Edith Hayman and Ann Rayner, to name a few. These individuals have devoted a great part of their badminton career promoting the sport. I am sure Olga will contribute greatly in her own way in the years to come.

While saluting Olga on her accomplishment, it is only fair to also give credits to Janet Hugli and Dominic Soong of SBA for providing a stimulating development environment for her success.

"Well done Olga. We are proud of you. Keep up the good work and wish you the best"

Charles Lui, Director of Marketing, ODBA
